Poignantly, Processually, Personally
Everything comes to an end - so also 'sgnl_fltr', a side project by Danny Kreutzfeldt.
These are the last tracks and notes we got from him concerning this side project. On one hand eight dark and banging techno tracks, on the other hand a very interesting concept and understanding of the 'remix' construct.
Remix yourself. Persistently.

Straying Fractions
Again we are breaking a long silence with an amazing release. The past months we all have been very busy with our live besides Stadtgruen - but Stadtgruen won't be dead within the next time. The turn is just a little slower as usual.
Patrick Diessner brings us six amazing minimal to tech house tracks which are perfect for both, home listening and dancing.
We wish you all a merry christmas and see you again in 2009.

Balanced Antagonism
Breaking the silence in an exciting time, May brings us a new solo album of elektronischerGarten's Gate Zero. Green Planet consists of eleven tales from a world on the border of our grasp, assembling its moving calmness in short yet thorough pieces.

featured on Inq-Mag's Monographic Podcast
Meanwhile on the internet for the ongoing series of netlabel mixes on inq-mag.com, Renniac has contributed a mix of Stadtgruen releases, featuring tracks from both the stadt and gruen branches. While the mix emphasizes the philosophy of the label openly, it may also be of interest for in-depth rediscovery of some of the catalogue's hidden gems.
Insects Taking Over
Frank Biedermann is back with a remarkable piece of technoid dub music called 'Nanowar', including four tracks and four amazing remixes by Marko Frstenberg, Rob Keens, Patrick Diessner and Martin Donath.
Modelling Physics
2008 has come.
On the 1st of January, Stadtgruen celebrated its 4 year anniversary. Up to now, Stadtgruen releases achieved more than 1.2 million downloads in total.
Therefore we want to thank our listeners and supporters, spreading the word of mouth on our music and philosophy. Currently our release-pipeline is prospering, so watch out for many very good releases to come.
Starting with 'Density Operator', 'Craque' invites us to his latest experiments on compacting and expanding structures, fluids and sounds.
Modern Nature
It might have taken some time, but finally now December brings the first work of elektronischerGarten, a project of Stefan Biermann (aka Gate Zero) and Waldemar Bednorz. They are exploring the microcosms of garden and nature in six laid-back minimal lounge pieces on their ambitiously so titled first Garten EP.
Application and Evolvement
Dubsuite Rearranged is a remix compilation of Dubsuite's impressive effort "Eigenleben", released one year ago. In twelve different approaches, samples from the original are used to construct new pieces, depicting the truly independent existence of the sounds.
Tuned Up Tunes
Two years after "Tangrams & Techniques" comes the next epic album from Motionfield, our man at the forefront of modern lounge music. "Movements" tells seven tales of the ever changing structures of our world, masterly capturing brief moments of bliss and swiftly shifting them around into sophisticated perspectives.
The Aesthetics Of Everything
Celebrating our first US-based artist, we would like to introduce 'The Stringed Theory', a project by Dustin Frelich from Vista, California.
The string theory's main predication is that everything we see, from the smallest particles modern physics can perceive up to the greatest objects in our universe, is made up of tiny vibrating and oscillating strings.
With these strings, the universe is supposed to be a great cosmic symphony based upon unbelievable mathematical beauty.
Unfortunately, these strings are so small, that most likely no experiment is ever going to prove the theory's predictions. Though, assuming that string theory is a candiate for the theory of everything, it would sound like this.

The Wonders Of Spring
This time we are on a hike. Collect everything crucial and join us on the trip through shapes and forms, driven by a certain kind of wanderlust.
In-vitro Generation / Primal Urges
Things are moving slow - but they're moving, at last.
Mastermind of minimalism and avant garde music and co-founder of stadtgruen Axel Bergk under his widespread moniker 'Lomov' endows our catalogue with a very solid double-lp 'Labwork / Aquarius'.
Unpredictability
Holger Flinsch and Martin Mller have just started a new project called 'Dubsuite'. We are proud to release the first result of this mutual impregnation, a monumental track with a very wide-ranged narrative concept. Again a gruen release which arrogates attention.
Disassemble, Reassemble
Every entity has relations, nothing can be as isolated as it would be perfectly independent. The word is dependency. Everything is connected to some other thing, and around a few corners, something seemingly can be related from any other point in the system.
But maybe we should not think to much about this mazy construct and just download and enjoy the music, and let 'Relate' invade us subversively.
Music for Artworks
After we stood in front of a white canvas and did not dare to make the first stroke, Billi-jane Thanner came and threw the colours on the screen. In a collaboration with Georg Neufeld, a project with the principle of mutual artistic inducement was born.
Among those six tracks, 'Deep Endless Deep' is not the result of this project, but a track recorded live on tape in 1995 - an everlasting masterpiece which really needs to be checked out, as is the whole release.
Christian Quast - Alte Schule
We had to remove the release entirely due to reasons of utilization (GEMA).
The First Stroke
Why is making arts a nonlinear process? Is it really necessary to understand how things work on the scales of soundwaves, or is the idea as such the only thing that counts? Or to put it another way: why and in what way does technology influence and affect our creativity?
Christian Quast - Alte Schule
We had to remove 'No Way Back' from Christian Quast's EP 'Alte Schule', because it will be released on the German label Glckskind-Schallplatten this year.
Slurping Cocktails
Do you feel sick of the lasting chill? Do you think winter has distressed us enough? Do you sigh for warmth?
We do.
So now it's time to unbind our chains and make our bodies move again. Let System-Pi be our host and guard us into the warm season of the year. So wake up, it's springtime (again)!
New prices
Shirts 16,40 EUR (formerly 17,90 EUR) and Bags 22,40 EUR now (+ shipping). And a big grin to those who ordered the tops (the female addicts). Photos anyone?
Sense
This months release comes from Thinner/Autoplate artist Danny Kreutzfeldt under his moniker 'sgnl_fltr'. A man so wonderful - he doesn't need an introduction. So he's not going to get one.
No more slowness
Very good news actually: Jay L.T. Cornwall, a student from London (Gb) has bestowed us free space and traffic for our back-catalogue. Now we are no longer dependent on the servers of archive.org, which regretfully became very, very slow.
Big acclaims to Jay for his services!
If there are any broken links (we changed the whole database by script), please report them and we'll fix them immediately.

Among Reality and Sublimeness
New year, new starting points. We head into 2006 with new intentions and fresh sounds. This year we will bethink on our former ambition to release music which fits our early statement 'minimal concepts for your pleasure'. Innovative music which is not a pain in listening.
The commencement is made by incredibly versatile electronic musician Andreas Seibel under his moniker 'Nights in Ural', an amazing album with which we want to define our direction anew.
As you may have realized we have new covers for our releases. As we both did not have much time last year, we unified our artwork. Now, as we could enhance our staff by designer Hendrik Dahl, there will be individual artworks again, including a printer-friendly version to tinker and a label for the cd. This should fit all your needs.
We hope that we can provide interesting and innovating music in 2006, and however, we think we made a good start.
Spatial Imagination
Gate Zero comes with six impressions of walls, ceilings and grounds - or let's say what lies within them. Music about cubes and atmospheres...but rooms don't have to be cubic, do they?
Reminiscent Moods
Christian Quast sets us back in time when Techno was just about to emerge from the dark industries of Motor City. 'Alte Schule' can be seen as an update of the last 10-15 years, an update with new methods of production, with better quality due to the immense digital capabilities of our age but with no change in the philosophy - the philosophy of Techno.
Isn't it just too abstract to enjoy sounds that are completely non-organic, pressed into a fitting and mechanical structure and making everybody move? When thinking about it, we shall remember that these kind of music is no older than 50 years at the most. It was the german band Kraftwerk which made these sounds popular, because they used popsong-structures in most of their works. Today we love to enjoy piano music with glitches and ultrafrequent sinetones, just drumorientated techno and music that sounds like a complete error of its own (Autechre!?).
What is this gonna lead to?
A portrait
Stadtgruen is represented within the first issue of 'Sceen', a very new print-magazine for digital culture and -extravaganza. The layout and design is very professional and the articles are of high quality and very nice to read (everything in English).
Take a visit to the Sceen website! You won't regret it.

Smacks of Indian Summer Satiety
After a big delay we put out another great compilation which contrary to 'Janus' is dealing with the last lasting warmth of this summer.
You may be suprised that we call our compilation 'Ennui' which is directly translated with 'boredom' or 'weariness', but as usual there's more than just the meaning of words. Closely connected to the state of melancholy, we think ennui bears a big potential in creative power and helps to regain new strength and incitement. Are you fatigue enough to savour?

Translucent Depths
From cloudscapes to biospheres: Acidrain invites you to a submergence into the blue. Put on your diving suit and follow us floating below zero.
Interesting aspects concerning Stadtgruen
Martin was interviewed by Tend from Broque netlabel and said some words about the philosophy of Stadtgruen, published in the german netculture-mag 'Phlow'.
Axel was interviewed by Mogwai from Kreislauf in his montly radioshow 'Kreislauf.fm' Listen to it!
Atmospheric Accumulations
Time to kick out some new hot Techno stompers by the 'Melodic Detroit Techno' master himself Rob Keens. 'Cloud Presets' describes a view up to wide cloudscapes floating above highly sophisticated city-architecture.
Furthermore we have decommissioned the comments-function. If you want to shout something out to the artists or the label - us our response-form!
Squaring The Circle
The exact origin of the Tangram is unknown. Though it is likely to be older than 4,000 years, Tangrams are still entertaining and frustrating today.
'Tangrams & Techniques' plays with musical elements in a trangramistic manner. Motionfield uses several techniques to outline his mood, arrange his ideas and create something new upon something existing - not just stolid recycling, because the whole is always more than the sum of the parts.
Music for hot summer sundays and evolving inertia.
Unchilled Temper
We are very proud to announce this Dubhouse release by Gurtz, an Argentinean artist. This music tells you what summer is all about. It combines sexyness with an easygoing flow, relaxedness with pushing elements and inimitable grooves, always so refreshing and pure like a cold sip of water in the desert.
Just a few more words to say: enjoy the summer, this is the soundtrack!
Stories In Front Of Your Eyes
Spring has come and we are emerging again with a new release by Renniac, who already contributed with an ambient track on our winter-compilation 'Janus' in december last year. This time Ren is proclaiming some kind of schizophrenic ambient pop music for melancholy nerds, he says himself.
'Surround' contains sound surroundings between mechanical noises, environmental sounds, warm melancholy chords, wide open spaces and beautiful harmonies, everything that reminds us of calmness within present unrest.
Bleip, click, chirp, wooosh...and contemplate.
Linear Circulation
This is our farewell to the last passing by winter days. The snow is finally melting, the sun is leaking through the sky-covering clouds from time to time, birds are coming back and make dusk and dawn even more romantic. Stow your winter dresses and throw yourself into more easygoing and relaxing pieces of fabric. Feel the sun caressing your skin, producing a smile on your face. Enjoy this music between the last winter impressions, evolving warmth and pure feelings.
Moreover you shouldn't miss Kaz's other most recent release called 'Metaltermites" on Realaudio.
Immovable Movers
After some straining days which still haven't passed completly, we are proud to present another release by mastermind Lomov.
'Lapilibrium' contemplates about the healing and gathering capabilities of various stones which are since hundreds of ages said to be equipped with mystic and thoughtful skills. Different energies reside within this lingering products of nature and wait to be wakened by healers and meditative people. Seperate your room from the world outside, take a relaxing position and muse about this seven little pieces made by mother earth.

Frank Biedermann featured on Traktor Dj Studio 2.6
Ronny Pries, owner of the netlabel Rohformat, has just convinced the guys at Native Instruments to feature a netaudio-only mix on the new version of Traktor Dj Studio. 14 Tracks from the 14 most-known netlabels are compiled and mixed by mastermind Ronny Pries aka rktic and will be shipped world wide with Traktor Dj Studio 2.6 and Final Scratch 2.6. For us it's Frank Biedermann who is representing our netlabel on this awesome mix. Furthermore we want to thank Ronny for his efforts!

Nouvelle Cuisine
After the five track release by Slovak producer Monoide we decided to commission several international cuisiniers to do the very best out of the remaining rolls. Some time passed, some rolls expired and the result were eleven differently concocted recepts which all have got something in common: a mixture of crispiness and mellowness individually depending on the cooks' predilections and intentions. Be prepared for the next course!
Additionally we redesigned the covers of all releases in order to unify our concept.
Twelve new ways to wear us!
Spring is coming soon and so we decided to design new shirts, tops and bags. The new products are very dynamic as well as well-constructed; though you can still get the antiquated ones. As the recent sign consists of two colors, the new products are a bit more expensive but thus even more fashionable. Stick out!
Monoide - Crispy Brown Rolls
Stadtgruen is beginning the new year with five great techno tunes by Slovak producer Monoide, who is already known for his releases on the Swiss-based netlabel Realaudio as well as his tracks under his second ego 'Monostatic' on 2063music.
Excellent music for brumal breakfasts and a placid start into the day - and the year.
Martin Donath about Stadtgruen in 2004/2005
Martin Donath speaks on behalf of Stadtgruen about the past year, successes, the scene, the idea of networking and Stadtgruen in 2005.

White Plains, Comfort Rooms
Winter has reached and we'd like to solace you for the cold season with eleven amazing works, ranging from deep brumal ambient over despondent downbeat to dub interlarded sounds, always keeping one thing in mind: outer chillness and inner warmth.
Winter is the time we shift together with our friends and family to make this time as endurable as possible. Some people hate wintertime because by virtue of the coldness they feel tied to their homes most of the time. But some people like thinking of these cold days, crossing long distances in dampened light, walking on deep snow, having the warmth and relief in mind when retroverting at home. At no point in the year we feel more blissful when returning.
So if you just entered your home and want to get rid of the icicles which may have emerged in your face, make some tea, sit down in your comfort room, and enjoy listening these impressions from winter.
Small Creatures, Large Effects
The last month of this year is initiated by krill.minima with his brand new EP called 'Borkenkaefer'. Three really tiny and fluffy minimal dub tracks with glitches, noises and crispyness all over! Get yourself some cup of tea and enjoy this piece of laid back electronica!
krill.minima will also be featured on our next release, a compilation which will follow up in the middle of december.
Technocratical Correctness
Stompin techno with tribal and detroitish vessels - that's Thomas Bornemann! We wonder if he is in some way related to Rob Keens who released in february this year on Stadtgruen...who knows?
Also be sure to check out his recently founded own label 'Sorbitol Records' if you want to buy music by him on hard wax!
Necessary Changes
Unusal works from Techdub mastermind Marko Fuerstenberg aka Surphase from the netlabel Thinner. This release discloses a very unorthogonal side of our cultural aspect and shows that we might easily get lost in our fast and complicated society. Remember your past to know better for your future.
The Infinite Process Of Absorbing
We are relaunching Stadtgruen with a fresh page and a gorgeous LP by Gras. We made several changes:
1. Introducing PayPal, there is now a possibility to reward our artists (and in case of a compilation the label). So if you like a release and listen to it a whole bunch of time, consider to make a donation and help to facilitate further future releases.
2. We are widening our release policy. Now there are no more deadlines we have to maintain and we dont feel responsible to alternate between stadt+gruen anymore. This is an important step to preserve a high quality standard of future releases, because sometimes quality takes some more time. Nevertheless that doesnt mean that there will be less than one release per month. If we have enough stuff to put out, we will do.
3. There are many changes on our website like a better integration of respective artwork, better artistpics and a new function for comments on releases. Go and check 'em out!

Deep Forests And Abysmal Creatures
It's been quite a long time since we made the last update of this page. Sorry for the delay of August's release but due to some time and material issues we decided to break up our will to release on every 1st of the month. Despite this decision we will continue trying to release every month.
A New, very fresh and pushing release has made it on our servers this time with four deep and driving tracks in the manner of older releases on Thinner. New netaudio artist Frank Biedermann describes some strange places, strange beings and strange feelings.
Warm But Distant
We have a remarkable release for July by another HandhouseRecords-artist called Mostly Covered In Clouds. Alessandro Crimi aka Acidrain compiled six again very smooth, floatin' and enjoyable tracks and will help you feeling the summer, even if the weather sometimes seems not to be appropriate for this season.
Everything Flows, Nothing Remains
In May we were very busy, so we couldn't manage to keep this page updated, sorry for the circumstances. Well anyway, obviously there is some new and great stuff to listen to you definitively shouldn't miss. Five tracks somewhere between abysmal deep Techno and smooth Minimal House by Yatsuo Motoki (not from Japan, but Hamburg, Germany).
Transient Relations
Four relaxed and very enjoyable tracks by Deep House mastermind Georg Neufeld who is head of his own record label called HandhouseRecords. Spring has definitively arrived, so don't miss its soundtrack!
Abstraction As A Resource Of Creation For Electronic Music
Providing 60 minutes of unconfusable abstract Techno, Dataman is devoting this release to the abstractness of human awareness and perception. Arising from the depths of Motor City, there's no wonder that these mystical tracks seem not to be made by human hands. Detroit Techno at its very best!
Axel Bergk speaks about Stadtgruen
Axel Bergk was interviewed by Thomas Hoeverkamp from Interjamp, a monthly radioshow on local radiostation 'FSK' in Hamburg (.de), and spoke about the intention of our netlabel, our concepts, our thoughts and our future plans. Or hear it!
Une Journe Calme En t
Four pieces of unbending Minimal/Deep House with a certain french flair. The perfect soundtrack for the upcoming prospectively very hot season. Cum and get those sexy chicks.
A Global Phenomenon
Consisting of four harmolodic deep driving Detroit tunes, The Park is an appropriate commencement for the more straight and danceable cultural aspect of our netlabel, which is obviously dedicating to the building of human architecture (dancing!).
No need to be perfect when you look good!
Seven products which are representing Stadtgruen in a very fashionable way are from now on available in our shop! The fabrics and prints are of high quality but though not too expensive and will endure many washings. So wear us if you like us!
But what does it mean?
Yet another netlabel? Well yes, but no. Stadtgruen is not only dedicating to pure experimentalism which mostly isn't really endurable, but to minimal music with experimental elements which is also giving you some kind of pleasant feeling at the same time, or spures you to move your body.
Therefore our main subject is 'minimal concepts for your pleasure'. If you want to learn more about our concept, we encourage you to study our philosophies which you can find on our pages.
Our first release is also the initiation of our natural aspect, which is concerning home-listening Electronica as well as modern lounge music.
Free Port by Lomov is on one hand dedicating to the wide openness of the large free port of Hamburg (.de), on the other hand to a free port of a computer, which brings to you nearly infinite digital possibilities depending upon the devices connected with it.
So what the hell are you waiting for? |
