The First Stroke
The hardest part of making arts is to begin - to ruin the perfectly white canvas and raze its purity. As my approach for making arts or music is always of a more architectural kind, this is the case for me.
How often have I sat in front of my laptop, lacking the right mood and enough creative potential to reach the threshold at which things are starting to live and work on their own. I cannot just sit down and outline a track in 30 minutes, perfectionism pays its tribute. Though nothing can ever be perfect, because newly created things always induce further things to emerge from them, the pure striving is one of the main reasons wherefore I am into music.
Besides the technical aspects, there is of course the narrative, which the artist should constantly have in mind. When he begins his work with a fresh idea that came onto him quite recently, the work is completely finished in his head - but the canvas is still empty (or there is only silence, when speaking of music).
So technical knownledge is essential for an approximation of the artist's picture. As this image is some kind of blurry, because it is always at least partly determined by emotions, this image will have to be reduced in some points. We can never pin it down entirely. How do you describe something analytically that you don't even see or realize in total?
So where do you want to make your first stroke?

bei dem anhaltend sch�nen wetter hier in hamburg, komme ich kaum dazu hier regelm��ig zu posten. dabei quellen meine festplatten nur so �ber von frischen netz-ver�ffentlichungen.
schon vor einigen tagen wurde das release von martin donath bei stadtgruen ins netz gestellt und �berzeugt wieder mit h�chster qualit�t. gerade nach vorne gehende beats in fluffiger atmosph�re und deepe dubbige, fast schon housige momente, erlauben dem h�rer gechillte phasen oder auch heftigste abfahrt auf dem tanzboden.
mit sicherheit wird hier kein massengeschmack bedient, doch stellt sich mir gerade bei releases solcher qualit�t die frage, warum h�r ich sowas eigentlich nicht regelm��ig im club?

Was passiert, wenn der K�nstler aus dem scheinbaren Nichts etwas erschafft? Das fertige Produkt ist nur eine Ann�herung an das, was urspr�nglich im Kopf entstanden ist. Wie h�tte dieses Werk geklungen, wenn es unmittelbar, ohne technische Begrenzung, ohne Mediensprung (Geist -> Materie) als Track in unserem MP3-Player gelandet w�re?
Mit solchen Gedanken ver�ffentlicht stadtgruen das neue Release von Martin Donath. Jetzt kann nat�rlich nur das Endprodukt beurteilt werden, und es mag manchem H�rer auch schnurzegal sein, auf welchem Weg die T�ne zustande gekommen sind�
White Canvas ist ein eher ruhiges Release, Beats und Sounds d�rfen sich langsam ausdehnen und breit machen. Das ist im ersten Moment gar nicht besonders aufregend. Aber so beim dritten Mal anh�ren stelle ich fest, dass die vier Titel doch eine heimliche Kraft entfalten. Hier wurde nicht mit schrillen Farben und vollen Farbt�pfen um sich geschmissen, man muss schon etwas genauer hinh�ren um die feinen Farbtupfern wahrzunehmen.
